The Mendel Art Gallery is a great place to volunteer! The Mendel Gallery Group, which meets once a month, offers opportunities in the following areas:
Volunteers host receptions for exhibition openings and other events. Volunteers set up, organize and host the food and beverage tables for receptions.
The Art Appreciation Group meets once a month, except during July and August, to view and discuss exhibitions at the Mendel and other galleries in the city. Members also perform hosting duties at the Gallery’s reception desk on Sunday afternoons.
Volunteers are available to help during busy periods in the Gallery Shop. In December, volunteers provide a special gift-wrapping service.
Volunteers do communication networking regarding events and activities. They also assist with mailings of newsletters and invitations by stuffing envelopes and attaching labels.
The Gallery Group volunteers organize annual events, including the Spring Plant Sale & Mother’s Day Tea fundraiser, and the Poinsettia Sale fundraiser. Volunteers also assist with special events, geared toward fundraising and promoting public awareness about the Gallery. All funds raised by the volunteers assist in purchasing new acquisitions for the Gallery’s permanent collection.
