School Art 2011

April 15 to June 12, 2011

(Check this page in November for submission guidelines and deadlines for 2011.)

School Art has been, for almost 40 years, a presentation of artworks by elementary and secondary students of Saskatoon’s schools. This annual presentation of paintings, drawings, photographs, sculptures and video works is organized by the Mendel Art Gallery to acknowledge the excellence of art making by Saskatoon’s young people.

Each year the Mendel Art Gallery presents the work—selected by jury—of approximately two hundred students, to encourage a continued commitment to art at the primary and secondary levels. The Mendel Art Gallery is very much appreciative of the collaboration of teachers and administrative staff of Saskatoon's schools in the production of this exhibition.

The selection committee, comprised of a representative of the Public School System, the Catholic School System, as well as of the Mendel Art Gallery, choose at least two works from each of the schools which submitted works for consideration. Schools with over 350 students are represented by three works. In addition, a limited number of art pieces are included on a merit basis.

School Art 2011 is organized and presented by the Mendel Art Gallery.
