Educator’s Guide

The Mendel Art Gallery is pleased to provide an education package that is designed to supplement a tour of this exhibition. DOWNLOAD the Educator’s Guide here (3MB pdf format)

The activities primarily address the visual art curriculum for Saskatchewan schools (Learning to See, Ideas and Inspirations, Making Sense of Things, The World of Art) with additional connections to the language arts curriculum (viewing and representing strands). Within the visual arts, the following mini-units are addressed:

  • Colours and Feelings
  • Pattern
  • Artist Study
  • A Sense of Order
  • Art in Public Spaces
  • Imagination
  • Observation

Each activity is ready-to-use. Do as many as you like, whatever you have time for.

Every activity is relevant to tour content and can be adapted for most age groups.

This guide serves as a general introduction to Perehudoff’s approaches to artmaking throughout his 60-year career, especially the tenets of abstraction. Abstraction will be covered in greater depth during the tour.

The activities can also be used as a follow-up to your tour.
