Patrick Traer: don’t tell me your dreams

This publication documents an installation of mixed-media works, including photos, audio, drawings, and embroidery, by a well-known Canadian artist. The themes are darkness, solitude, and restless dreams. The content stems from the artist’s diagnosis of sleep apnea in 2004. The images and sounds in the exhibition relate to what Traer calls a longstanding “anxious indifference” to listening to others recount their dreams. Curators Dan Ring, Jen Budney. Publication coordinator Sandra Fraser. Copy Editor Trish Keegan. Essay Renee Baert. Translation Denis Lessard. Photography Rob Bos, James Hare, Paul Litherland, Brenda Pelkey, Ben Tucker. Forward Vincent J. Varga. Design Susan Chafe. Printing Friesens.
