Linda Duvall
Enough White Lies to Ice a Wedding Cake

Given the opportunity to recreate your life what would you do?

There is something delicious about being given the opportunity to re-invent, something that installation/video artist Linda Duvall investigates in this intriguing exhibition.

Duvall considers the ease with which we can, and do, lie, and the presumption that a viewer can readily distinguish the truth?. Experience the tension and complexity created as the viewer begins to question the relationship between the stories told and between what might be, or might not be, true.

Co-curated by Linda Jansma and Dan Ring. Organized by the Mendel Art Gallery and the Robert McLaughlin Gallery.

Spell

East meets West in the pairing of artists Jordan Broadworth of Toronto and Jonathan Forrest of Saskatoon as curators of Spell, a group exhibition connecting six artists from each side of Canada’s great 'divide'.

Using a Modernist history as a springboard to contemporary painting, the curators, and the artists they have selected, explore how the connections and differences in use of materials and conceptual approaches relate to the role of abstraction in contemporary art.

Participating artists from Western Canada: Robert Christie, Clay Ellis, Jonathan Forrest, Marie Lannoo, William Perehudoff, Laura St. Pierre. Participating artists from Eastern Canada: Jordan Broadworth, Ric Evans, John Kissick, Elizabeth McIntosh, Aleksandra Rdest, Ron Shuebrook.

Organized by the Mendel Art Gallery and Robert McLaughlin Gallery.
