Call for performative art work
LUGO is seeking submissions for the presentation of a performative artwork to take place during this year’s event. The selected artist will present a work that will unfold during the evening throughout the Gallery spaces. The work will be conceived in the spirit of this year’s event –hand-made, heart-warming, evocative, collaborative and engaging.
Artists working in all disciplines will be considered. Performance art, dance, theatre, literature, sculpture, audio may be particularly well suited for this venue. For example, artists may engage with party participants to collect source material for a collaborative poem, an audio art piece, or a sculptural installation. The presentation could be a finished work – a dance or performance – or provide an opportunity to workshop a new piece. The artist must demonstrate the ability to execute the proposed project. A small honorarium will be paid.
To apply, email a brief description of the proposed activity (one or two paragraphs), a list of any technical support you may need, documentation of your work, and a résumé. Feel free to include additional support material including photographs, a script, video or links to the web. The deadline for submissions is December 15. We will accept online submissions only, merci.
To submit a proposal or for more information, contact Troy Gronsdahl: tgronsdahl@mendel.ca
A few of our favourite things!

LUGO is a celebration of the city’s vibrant cultural landscape — a creative and diverse scene that contributes to the quality of life in Saskatoon. At LUGO 2012, we’d like to share some of our other favourite things that make living here great. We’re working with some of the city’s best new restaurants to offer an array of tantalizing bites and we’re pleased to confirm Duck Duck Goose as one of our featured restaurants. Visit their website at http://duckduckgoosetapas.com/ or pop in for a small plate and an after work pint (or two).
Welcome back, Dan
Daniel Canfield, partner in the newly minted Village Guitar & Amp Company in Saskatoon, returns once again to tranform the gallery space into a premier concert venue.

This is and is not LUGO
Although we share the same ALL CAPS PROMOTIONAL EXCITEMENT (SEE YOUTUBE CLIP LOTS OF ALL CAPS YELLING), our LUGO is not affiliated with Bronx-based rap artist, Danny Lugo. Our LUGO is a MASSIVE ONE NIGHT INTERDISCIPLINARY FEEL GOOD ART PARTY in support of the Mendel Art Gallery. SASKATOON IS IN THE BUILDING!
Like “California Dreaming” only the opposite
It may be 32 degrees outside, but the LUGO team is already dreaming about January! This new website kicks off months of planning. Return for updates about performers, food vendors, ticket sales and all things LUGO. Cheers!
