All the Beauty and the Bloodshed, Laura Poitras

Academy Award–winning documentarian Laura Poitras chronicles the life and work of famed artist Nan Goldin, including her protests against the Sackler family and their company Purdue Pharma, maker of OxyContin. The film follows Nan as she leads the activist group Prescription Addiction Intervention Now (P.A.I.N.) to hold demonstrations at the Met, Guggenheim, and Louvre. Remarkably, the galvanizing campaign has real consequences.

This April, Cinema at the Museum presents a series of films that examine youth culture, changing societal tides, and the fight for those on the fringes of society. These ideas are showcased through documentation, faux-realism, or from a dream-like state that twists and bends the narrative of modern social consumption and excess.

Film tickets are $10; free admission for members and youth under 18.

Talks, tours and other events are admission by donation or free with membership.
