Kim Adams receives Governor General’s Award

Toronto sculptor Kim Adams was one of six artists awarded the 2014 Governor General’s Awards in Visual and Media Arts March 4, 2014. Adams is known for his large-scale and miniature sculptural assemblages that are often charged with social commentary. He received the Gershon Ishkowitz Prize in 2012 and was named a Guggenheim Fellow in 2013.

Adams’ monumental sculpture, Love Birds, was generously donated by BMO Financial Group to the Mendel Art Gallery in 2013. It was displayed at the Saskatoon Western Development Museum from
April 12 through September 2, 2013.

For more about Adams and the other award winners, including Jayce Salloum, whose solo exhibition opened at the Mendel in 2011, see this link.
