Volunteer Opportunities
The Mendel Art Gallery is a great place to volunteer! We have opportunities in the following areas:
Receptions
Volunteers host receptions approximately every six weeks for exhibition openings and other events. Volunteers set up, organize and host the food and beverage for receptions.
Art Appreciation
The Art Appreciation Group meets once a month, except during July and August, to view and discuss exhibitions at the Mendel and other galleries in the city, as well as hosting at the Gallery on Sunday afternoons at our reception desk.
Gallery Shop
Volunteers assist in a variety of aspects during busy periods in the Gallery Shop. In December, volunteers provide a special gift wrapping service.
Communications
Volunteers assist with mailings of newsletters and invitations - stuffing envelopes and attaching labels. Volunteers also implement the communication network for the Group’s events.
Special Events/Fund Raising
Each year the Volunteers organize fund raising events such as the Annual Spring Plant Sale & Fund Rasier and Mother’s Day Tea, as well as their annual Poinsettia Fund Raiser. Volunteers also assist with implementing special events for the gallery, with fund raising activities, and to promote public awareness of the Gallery with unique and popular activities. All funds raised by the Volunteers are directed to the purchase of new acquisitions for the permanent collection of the Gallery.
If you are interested in the volunteer program, please contact Judy Koutecky, Manager of Volunteers Resources at the Gallery at 975-7669 or via our contact form for further information and to fill out a volunteer application form.
