The Mendel Art Gallery is seeking individuals to fill upcoming vacancies on the volunteer Board of Trustees, voted in by the membership. This role offers a rewarding opportunity to support and advise your civic gallery through an exciting, transitional period as we move forward to the Remai Art Gallery of Saskatchewan. Nominees must be residents of Saskatoon.
The Mendel Art Gallery engages the public through outstanding, transformative experiences in the visual arts and contributes to the cultural life of our community in a variety of ways:
• An extensive program of exhibitions, publications and educational activities
• A significant collection that is widely exhibited and used as a study resource
• Ongoing support for a growing community of regional artists
• A strong volunteer base and a growing membership
The Mendel Art Gallery’s Board meets monthly, except for July and August. Meetings include: reviewing and addressing issues related to the governance and sustainability of the organization as a whole, such as budget, finance, Executive Director recruitment and evaluation, fundraising, and major strategic and policy initiatives.
The Board maintains several standing committees to assist in the governance of the organization: Executive Committee, Audit and Finance Committee, Collections Committee, Governance Committee, and Fundraising Oversight Committee.
Applicants should be prepared to commit an average of 6 to 12 hours per month of volunteer time. Those who fill the two vacancies on the Gallery’s Board of Trustees will have two-year terms, beginning April 16, 2013.
